The Animal Poisons Centre was established in 2019 as the only service of its kind in Australia. Prior to the this, pet-owners and vets often consulted with the Australian human poisons information centre network for advice on animal poisonings. The human poisons centres were only able to provide very limited information on animal poisoning, and not able to provide animal treatment advice as it did not lie within their scope of practice. http://animalpoisons.com.au
